Homemade Chicken Nuggets

Healthy. Easy. Kid-Approved.

Are your kids constantly asking for fast food? Do you often reach for “ready-to-fry” options just to keep them happy? Here’s a simple homemade recipe that’s healthier, easy to prepare, and delicious enough to satisfy their fast-food cravings.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup maida (all-purpose flour)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into pieces

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tablespoon water

  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Method

  1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture
Place the chicken pieces in a blender. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Blend until the mixture reaches a consistency that can be shaped into balls.

  2. Shape the Nuggets
Roll the mixture into small balls and set aside.

  3. Prepare the Coating

    • Place the flour in a bowl and season lightly with salt and pepper.

    • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water.

    • Keep the breadcrumbs ready in another bowl.

  4. Coat the Nuggets
Roll each chicken ball in the flour, dip it into the egg mixture, and then coat it with breadcrumbs. Gently press each ball to flatten slightly into a nugget shape. Place on a clean plate. Repeat with the remaining mixture.

  5. Fry the Nuggets
Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the nuggets (work in batches if needed) and cook until golden brown on both sides.

  6. Drain & Serve
Transfer the nuggets to a paper towel–lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve hot with your child’s favorite dip.

Enjoy a healthier homemade alternative that your children will love — without the guilt!
