Reverse Hide & Seek

Family fun-time started in our home when my wife and I realized that my work-related travel had increased—and our kids were beginning to really miss me.

Even when we were all at home, we often found ourselaves in separate corners doing our own thing. We knew something had to change. We wanted our home to be a place filled with laughter, connection, and shared memories.

With three energetic boys aged 14, 11, and 7, it's even more fun now than when we first began this journey of intentional family time.

Try This: Reverse Hide & Seek (with a Twist!)

One of our all-time favorite (and slightly crazy!) games is Reverse Hide & Seek—a hilarious twist on the classic game.

How to Play:

• Instead of everyone hiding while one person seeks, one person hides and everyone else looks for them.

• But here’s the twist:
  The first person who finds the one hiding doesn’t call out. Instead, they quietly slip in and hide with them.

• As more people find the group, they join in silently, piling into the same hiding spot.

• The last person still searching is the one who gets caught—and can be asked to do something silly or funny (like dance, sing, or do five jumping jacks).

• Then the next round begins, with someone new hiding first.

   

We usually play this game at night, with all the lights off—and it’s always a blast! The kids love it, and honestly, so do we.

Making time for laughter and connection has brought us closer together as a family. Games like this don’t require screens or fancy equipment—just time, creativity, and a willingness to be silly together.
