The Blind Side (2009)

Directed by: John Lee Hancock

Cast: Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head, Kathy Bates

Based on the 2006 book The Blind Side, this film tells the true story of Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), a towering yet gentle young man from a poor African-American neighborhood in Memphis. Homeless, virtually without family, and with nowhere to go, Michael’s life takes a dramatic turn when his path unexpectedly crosses that of Leigh Anne Tuohy and her family.

This is a story not only of love and altruism, but also of the human tendency to impose our own expectations and desires on those we care about. When Michael is welcomed into the home of a conservative Christian suburban family, he slowly begins to flourish. Surrounded by care, stability, and encouragement, he matures into a talented athlete with a promising future.

However, questions soon arise—did the family have any ulterior motives in coming to his rescue? This challenge places Michael once again at a crossroads in his life. Will he choose to stay with the Tuohys, or will he move on to find his own path?

Watch to find out.
