This fast and simple recipe is a kid favorite and a perfect go-to dessert for unexpected guests. Served hot from the oven like mini chocolate volcanoes, these cakes are soft and cakey on the outside, with a steaming molten center of hot chocolate inside. Irresistible!
Ingredients
-
125g dark chocolate, finely chopped
-
125g unsalted butter
-
3 large eggs
-
150g caster sugar
-
35g maida (all-purpose flour)
Directions
-
Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in the microwave (or over a double boiler). Set aside to cool slightly.
-
In a separate bowl, gently whisk the eggs, then stir in the sugar and flour until combined.
-
Slowly whisk the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until smooth.
-
Grease individual baking cups or ramekins thoroughly with butter on all sides.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared cups, filling them about ¾ full.
-
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops begin to crack but the centers still appear slightly molten.
-
Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for that perfect hot-and-cold contrast!
